  • Casual employees are hired on an irregular basis, as needed. They can work as many hours as agreed.
  • Casual workers have no expectation of ongoing employment
  • They are free to refuse offers of work
  • They have no personal leave, sick leave or annual leave entitlement
  • They are paid a loading (a minimum of 20%, but some awards pay higher loading) to compensate for the lack of leave
  • They may also work for more than one employer at a time
