Overview

  • Rural areas are regions with a low population density and are characterised by generally, agricultural activities and natural landscapes.

Features of rural areas

  • Compared to urban areas, rural areas often have less jobs, less people and (usually) more fertile and open land.
  • This makes agriculture a very appealing job for rural inhabitants, being the primary economic activity in rural areas.
  • Compared to urban areas, rural regions may also have limited access to modern infrastructure, such as transportation, healthcare, and educational facilities.
  • Rural areas see a decrease in population nowadays due to urbanisation. Often times, rural inhabitants migrate to Urban areas in hopes of gaining a better standard of living.
