Months’ readings §

The readings of the months are relatively easy. You simply place the kanji numeral of the month, then 月がつ.

However, when talking/reading out the months, we use special numerals:

• 4 is always し
• 7 is always しち
• 9 is always く

• February: 二月にがつ
• March: 三月さんがつ
• April: 四月しがつ
• May: 五月ごがつ
• June: 六月ろくがつ
• July: 七月しちがつ
• August: 八月はちがつ
• September: 九月くがつ
• October: 十月じゅうがつ
• November: 十一月じゅういちがつ
• December: 十二月じゅうにがつ
