- Indigenous people were not allowed to enlist into the Army.
- Indigenous people often masked their identity behind different names and Nationalities to enlist.
- Enlisting approval was at the discretion of the enlisting officer. Some Indigenous people with a white parent may also be able to enlist.
- The ‘11th Lighthorse’ had the largest percentage of Aboriginal peoples.
- After the war, these Aboriginal soldiers returned home to be declined entry into RSLs, not be offered service medals, and had near to no acknowledgement.
